Amber MacGregor was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 1971 to Scottish Immigrant parents. Amber gratefully maintains an art studio in the Fernwood area of Victoria BC, Canada on the unceded Coast Salish territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ nations.
Amber's latest work is informed by questions encompassing, but not confined by the ways in which digital technologies alter our perception of the ambient world, genetic mutation, marine ecosystems and outer space. She works most commonly in acrylic paint and mixed media on canvas and wood, watercolour on paper, serigraphic prints, cyanotypes and digital photography.
Amber is a graduate of the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, BC Canada, and received her Batchelor of Fine Arts degree in 2001. She completed her Secondary Art Teaching Diploma at the University of Victoria in December 2016, and has since been teaching Studio Arts, Media Arts and Photography at the university, high school and middle school levels in the Greater Victoria School District. Amber recently completed a Masters degree in Art Education at the University of Victoria, in Victoria BC, Canada in Aug 2020.
