Amber MacGregor was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 1971 to Scottish Immigrant parents. She is currently working out of her studio, Polkadot Moon which is located in Fernwood on the unceded Coast Salish territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ nations, in Victoria BC.
Amber's latest work is informed by questions encompassing, but not confined by the ways in which digital technologies alter our perception of the ambient world, genetic mutation, marine ecosystems and outer space. She works most commonly in acrylic paint and mixed media on canvas and wood, watercolour on paper, serigraphic prints, cyanotypes and digital photography.
Amber is a graduate of the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, BC Canada, and received her Batchelor of Fine Arts degree in 2001. She completed her Secondary Art Teaching Diploma at the University of Victoria in December 2016, and has since been teaching Studio Arts, Media Arts and Photography at the high school and middle school levels in the Greater Victoria School District. Amber is currently enrolled in the Masters in Art Education Program at the University of Victoria, in Victoria BC, Canada and is set to graduate in 2020.
